Sono Bello, Fact or Fiction?
One of the hottest ads on T.V. right now is for Sono Bello. You can’t turn on your T.V. these days without seeing on of their ads. Clever marketing tactics leads one to believe you can walk into their facility and walk out in a few hours with the body you have always wanted.
What exactly is Sono Bello? The simple answer is “liposuction.” Catchy terms used such as “TriSculpt” is nothing different than what most practices use today. Franchises have popped up all across America offering an assembly line type practice. Patients are met by a patient “counselor” who uses high pressures sales techniques and does not have any medical training. You do not meet your surgeon until right before surgery. Only local anesthesia is used which limits the amount of liposuction that can be done safely. It can be dangerous if too much lidocaine is used under local such as the case of the Sono Bello patient in Bellevue, Washington who lost her life.
Research Your Sono Bello Surgeon!
Sono Bello has many board certified plastic surgeons, some who are very qualified and some who have a philosophy of profit and quantity. Dr. Delgado advises all prospective patients to research your surgeon to be sure he/she is board certified in plastic surgery, read reviews, and look at before and after pictures.
The cost per treated area is $1295, with a minimum of 3 treated areas to be scheduled. The minimum charge will be at least $5,000 but probably much more. Wouldn’t you rather have a surgeon who can guide you as to what will give the results you are looking for and not scheduling areas of your body to meet the minimum requirements, by a sales person?
Is Sono Bello Going the Way of the Lifestyle Lift?
Remember the Lifestyle Lift? Their advertising techniques are similar to Sono Bello, with intensive advertising promising fast, painless results using local anesthesia only. Lifestyle Lift abruptly closed their doors and filed for bankruptcy on March 2, 2015, leaving patients with no follow-up care. In addition, patients with paid surgeries and deposits, and doctors and staff were unable to collect salaries owed to them.
Remember, having a special laser does not add to the outcome, it is the surgeon who creates great results, not the equipment.
