30,000 QUESTIONNAIRES SENT

Each year the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) that was founded in 1967 publishes statistics for both cosmetic surgical and non-surgical procedures. Board Certified Physicians from many different specialties contribute to ASAPS statistics.

A questionnaire was sent to 30,000 Board Certified Physicians, including; 7,500 plastic surgeons, 10,500 otolaryngologists, and 12,000 dermatologists. The questionnaires were compiled and analyzed by an independent research firm, Industry Insights, Inc. from Columbus, Ohio. The survey results were plus or minus a 3.45% error and a level of 95% confidence.

For the past two years, Americans have spent $12 billion a year on cosmetic procedures; this is more than any year since 2008.

For 2014, breast reduction remains a very popular procedure with 114,470 cases reported, just slightly less than 2013 but with an increase of 139.1% since 1997.
